William H. Taylor died October 6, 2013 at the age of 91. Mr. Taylor was born August 15, 1922 in Greeley, Colorado. He was raised in Greeley and graduated from Greeley High School. He joined the Navy on December 26, 1940, where he was assigned to different destroyers and had 21 major engagements in the Pacific. Bill was appointed to Chief Petty Officer in 4 years. He married Isabelle P. Henke on February 2, 1942 on a 36 hour pass. On being discharged from the service they left Colorado and came to Portland, Oregon to live. He retired from Waagmeester Canvas Products on August 15, 1985. He was Commodore of Willamette Yacht Club and Vice Commodore of Vancouver Yacht Club, where he enjoyed with his wife their 42 Chris Craft that they used to cruise the northwest waters. Bill is survived by his children, Carolyn A. Dudley of Milwaukie, OR, William H. Taylor, Jr. of Tucson, AZ and Patricia George of Condon, OR; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
