William "Bill" Stinde

William (Bill) Stinde, age 55 died on April 24th, 2020 in Milwaukie, Oregon.



Bill is survived by his wife, Anita of 33 years; mother, Kaye; children, Wesley, Kristina (Dale), Ryan, Samuel, Clayton and Timothy; grandchild, Ayden; brothers, Dan (Rachel) and Tom (Mailinda) Stinde and their families. He is preceded in death by his father Warren Stinde.



Bill was born on July 11th, 1964 in Bellingham, Washington to Warren and Kaye Stinde. In 1982 he met Anita Kauffman, the love of his life, in Thompson Falls, Montana. They were married in 1986. In 1989 they moved to Clackamas County, Oregon where they raised a family, and Bill worked for 31 years.



Bill was a man of strong convictions and opinions. Gentle persuasion might sway them, but direct disagreement would just enforce them. He was also a man who loved deeply, although this might be overshadowed by his strong teasing.



You have heard the saying "Jack of All Trades, Master of None"; Bill was a "Jack of All Trades, Master of Most".



From an early age Bill loved to work on things. If something was broken, family members often brought the item to Bill to see if he could fix it. In most cases he could. God has graciously passed this ability on to his children. He was still fixing things in the days before God called him home.



He started working as a teenager and worked into his later years. He was only slowed down after injuring both shoulders after many years as an iron worker. He worked in orchards, on tree farms, in lumber mills, on farms. At the Bible college he attended, he was the only freshman who ever ran a work crew!  He was a well driller, an iron worker, and an all around handyman. He was good at repairing vehicles. In most of the churches Bill attended during his life, he was a soundman. He received high praise from professional musicians who were amazed at how well he could control the sound in difficult rooms.



All his friends knew if they needed help he was a phone call away. He was learning how to call others for help, especially reaching out to his sons.



He had been in Junior ROTC for the Marines, but was unable to join the Corps due to injuries to his knees sustained while playing soccer as a boy. The Marine Corps was always a strong interest in his life.



He was also an avid auto enthusiast, preferring Mopar above all others. For over a decade he was a judge at Canby Cutsforth Cruise In by the Park. He would complete his category and then assist in making sure all the other categories were finalized correctly.



He didn't always show his love in traditional ways but it was deep and it was strong. He loved just spending time with his wife. It was a rare occasion when he didn't accompany her while shopping or ask her to simply ride with him on even a short errand. He would always look for ways to make his wife's job at home easier. She loves cooking, and he would often purchase new items for the kitchen before she was aware the item even existed.



If a friend was troubled or down he would reach out to them. He was proud of his children. He was an avid storyteller if you had time to listen.
