Virginia Ernst Swan passed away on April 8, 2015 after a short battle with cancer. Virginia was born in 1934 in Spokane, WA. After graduating with honors from Caldwell High School in Caldwell, Idaho in 1953, Virginia attended the College of Idaho from 1953-1955, then promptly started a career in business. Virginia's business career was varied, with the last 20 /- years in accounting @ Irwin-Hodson Printing Co. in SE Portland from which she retired in 1998.
Virginia married Charles Swan in August of 1954 and they began their married life together in Caldwell, ID and have been married 60 years. Charlie & Virginia lived in Parma, Idaho, Ontario, OR & Milwaukie OR, then SE Portland, residing there till passing. They also have spent extensive time on the Oregon coast as well as Indio, CA and have made many good friends in those areas.
Virginia was "Mom" to many kids of the Milwaukie High School band, where Charlie was the band director for many years. She had a huge heart for kids and animals, especially dogs.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Charlie; her sons, Bob (Lori), Mike (Tammy) & her daughter, Patti Jo (Sandy) who all live in the general area. She is also survived by six grandchildren & nine great-grandchildren (with another on the way). Also surviving are her brother, Wayne Ernst of Caldwell, ID & her sister, Carolyn Payne of Spokane, WA as well as many other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul & Ruth Ernst.
There will be no formal service, at Virginia's request, however, there will be a viewing/visitation at Stehn Family Chapels, 2906 SE Harrison St. Milwaukie, OR on Friday, April 17 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Family members will be present to greet you.
Virginia will be interred in Nehalem, Oregon on Saturday, April 18 at 12:00 noon.
