Virginia Mae Nelson Skoglund, an only child, was born to George and Hilda Nelson on March 3, 1921 in Duluth, Minnesota. Virginia graduated from Denfeld High School in 1939. She furthered her education at Young and Hirsch Business College. She married Arne Erick Skoglund in 1949. They were together 52 years until Arne went to heaven first in 2001.
Virginia worked at AT&T in Duluth, MN and later in Portland, where they moved to be closer to Virginia's parents.
She loved music, travelling and beach walks. She was an avid reader of health books and especially Bible prophecy. In her younger years she enjoyed ice skating, tennis and camping. Her life-long love was chinese checkers.
The core passion of Virginia's life was her love for the Lord. She literally grew up in the Duluth Gospel Tabernacle, her father, an Evangelist, spoke there often. She attended services many times a week; a pattern she continued throughout her life. Her favorite charities were Bridges for Peace and The Friends of Israel. She had a burning passion for helping Israel through this direct connection.
Virginia is survived by one daughter, Susan Arneta Skoglund and one granddaughter, Mikala Sofie Skoglund Thomsen who live in Denmark. She is also survived by family in Norway, Sweden and extremely dear friends that were as close as true family. They enriched her life immensely and gave her so much joy. She loved them dearly.
