VeLoris Fine was born July 11, 1919, in Owatonna, Minnesota., the 5th child of Fred & Mary (Staska) Hager. She went to be with her Lord on April6, 2014 in Milwaukie, OR. VeLoris was raised in Owatonna and received her teachers credits in Duluth. She taught a short time in Minnesota. There was a big write up in the paper about a blizzard as it was thought her students along with VeLoris were lost in the storm. But soon they were found safe at one of the student's home. She met her husband-to-be, Eben (Dude) Fine at Lockheed in California. Dude was in the Army and was guarding the facility. They married in Las Vegas, which was common during wartime. Later they moved to Minnesota where their daughter was born in 1943; then moved to an Army base in Temple, TX. When Frances was still a baby they moved to Shaniko, Moro and then Antelope, OR. In Antelope VeLoris taught grades 5-8 in a two room schoolhouse from 1947-1953.She had a great love of teaching and enjoyed each of her students - of which she even taught nieces, nephews and her own daughter. She was always willing to stay after school to help anyone who didn't fully understand something being taught. VeLoris was very concerned the she did her best teaching so she could provide the best possible education to each student. In 1951 Dude & VeLoris bought a small farm in Terrebonne. She was a wonderful mother & wife. On December 15, 1970 her husband died. A short time later, she moved back to Minnesota to take care of her elderly mother. She cared for her for thirteen years. During the earlier part of her stay she worked at the Johnson Co. where her brother Fred worked. After her mother passed away, she moved back to Oregon and later lived with her sister Bonnie and her husband Gus for a few years. Both she and Bonnie attended the Episcopal Church, did acrylic painting & traveled together. She traveled to Norway & Germany with her sister-in-law Ardis Hager whom she thought of as one of her sisters. She enjoyed seeing her nieces & nephews & their families plus family from the Midwest and her daughter and her family when they came to visit at her sister's. She knitted & crocheted for charity and volunteered at the Parkrose Salvation Army for many years. She enjoyed visiting her daughter and her family. She went camping with them at Mt. hood, Central Oregon, and the beach. She had a great love for her grandchildren; Mark Urell, Carrie Figueroa and her husband Kevin, and her great granddaughters Malea and Maya. When her health wasn't so good she moved from her sister's to her daughter's. While her daughter worked, a good friend, Karen Heisermann gave her wonderful loving care. After about a year it was determined by her family & Karen she needed trained care. VeLoris moved to Golden Heart Adult Foster Care where she had wonderful loving care. Her family is so grateful to Karen, Nemia & Loleta. VeLoris is survived by her daughter Frances Murphy of Milwaukie; grandson Mark Urell of Portland; granddaughter Carrie Figueroa (husband Kevin); darling great granddaughters Malea & Maya Figueroa of Vancouver; her sister Bonnie Grazier of Portland & many nieces and nephews; her sister-in-law Ardis Hager of Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her father and mother; her husband Eben, her grandson Lari Urell; son-in-law Ed Murphy; her brothers Fred & Bud Hager; her sisters Frances Sanders, Maxine Anderson & Mary Jones. VeLoris is greatly missed by her family & friends. Contributions may be made in her memory to her favorite charities; the Veterans of America or the Alzheimer's Association. At a later date she will be buried with her husband at Mt. Jefferson Cemetery in Madras, OR."",
