Susan ""Susie"" Marie Hubbard

September 28, 1955 — January 21, 2019

Susie Hubbard passed away on January 21, 2019 as a result of kidney failure. Born in Vancouver to Ray and Betty Nelson on September 28, 1955, Susie lived in Washougal, WA until 1963 when her family moved to Gateway in NE Portland. Susie was the middle of five siblings. She graduated from Parkrose High School in 1973 and attended Good Samaritan School of Nursing from 1974-1976. After graduating from college, Susie married Rod Hubbard on September 18, 1976. They lived in SE Portland and she worked as a Registered Nurse at Emmanuel Hospital. Rod and Susie moved to Pleasant Valley in 1983 with their two children, Andy and Julie. Susie continued to work as an RN, taking care of newborn babies and their mothers, until 1986 when her diagnosis of lupus forced her to take disability. \u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp; Even in declining health, Susie continued to be active in her family\u0027s lives in activities such as PTA, classroom volunteer, Little League, scorekeeping, and attending numerous sporting and school events. Nothing prevented her from continuing to love and nurture her greatest joy- her children and grandchildren. Susie was a member of Sunnyside Community Church for 45 years. She had her hand in every aspect of the church, including Sunday School/Children\u0027s Church teacher, Awana, Bible Studies, Caring Committee, Prayer Chain Coordinator, Nursery Care, and much more. \u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp; Susie loved the Lord, her family and friends, and her church. She was passionate about reading, cooking, serving others, and holding babies. She also enjoyed camping, family gatherings, trips, games, and sports activities, especially ones involving her family. \u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp; Susie is survived by her husband, Rod Hubbard; her children Andy Hubbard and Julie Urback (Tim); and her grandchildren Eli Hubbard, Abby Hubbard, Jeremiah Urback, and Rachel Urback. She also leaves behind her parents Ray and Betty Nelson; and siblings Patty Bourgeois, Randy Nelson, Rick Nelson, and Debbie Dourian; along with numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces. \u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp; A Celebration of Life will be held at Sunnyside Community Church on Monday, January 28 at 2:00 p.m.\u0026nbsp; Private interment will be at Sunnyside Pioneer Cemetery.
