Shirley Mae Jamerson Aldrich was born July 25, 1933, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Paul Jamerson and Hulda Shepherd-Jamerson. She had two older siblings, Elizabeth and Robert, and a younger brother, Rich. While Shirley was in grade school her family moved to Milwaukie, Oregon.
Dave Aldrich met Shirley at a picnic, and the two were married a year later on August 16, 1959, at Sellwood Baptist Church. Their son Scott was born in 1962, and Peter in 1966.
Her family and friends will remember her as a prayer warrior who deeply loved Jesus. She kept boxes of notebooks filled with prayer requests and answered prayers from years of faithfully interceding on behalf of others. She was a committed member of every church community of which she was a part, and taught Sunday school from the earliest years of her childrens' memories through her retirement in Crooked River Ranch. Whether her own children and grandchildren or those of others, she was determined to show them the love of Christ through her own care. She left a legacy of service and kindness that will survive in those she loved and taught. She will be dearly missed, but she passed on a firm belief in a future day where we will all rejoice together again.
Shirley is survived by her husband, David; sons, Scott and his wife, Denise, and Peter and his wife, Kristine; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
