Sandra Louise "Sandy" Yarno

Sandra Louise “Sandy” Yarno was born on May 12, 1938, the second child of Kenneth & Marvel Bushey of Los Angeles, California. She peacefully passed away in her family home on November 13, 2023.

The Bushey family moved to Grants Pass, Oregon, and later Roseburg, Oregon. She graduated from Roseburg High School in 1957. During her teenage years she worked in her dad’s music store.

Sandra moved to Portland, Oregon, in her mid-20’s. She married Ivan Leroy Yarno in 1967 and had their only child in November of 1970.

She worked with high school students in an alternative school program until she was hired full time as a certified Teacher’s Aide at Happy Valley Elementary School. She worked there for close to 30 years. After retiring from the North Clackamas School District, she worked as a bookkeeper. In the early 2000’s, she retired from bookkeeping.

Sandra was a faithful member of her church choir for over 20 years, including over Zoom when the world changed due to COVID-19.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Yarno; parents, Kenneth & Marvel Bushey; and older sister, Donna.

Sandra leaves behind her only child, Michele Yarno; two granddaughters, Alannah & Deserae; niece, Janice Taylor; nephew, Donald Zurcher; and so many loved friends and extended family.

A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00pm, Saturday, April 13, 2024, at St. Michael of All Angels Episcopal Church in Portland, Oregon.
