Sandra Lee Cooke

December 25, 1944 — June 18, 2018

Sandra Lee Cooke (Brittingham) was born on Christmas Day, 1944 in Ontario, Oregon.  She passed away with her family and friends close by on June 18, 2018.  She spent her early childhood in Eastern Oregon, moving to Milwaukie in 1952 when her father, Frank became Milwaukie's Police Chief.

After graduating from Milwaukie High School in 1962, she worked at the Multnomah County Library before entering the insurance industry, where she worked for 40 years.  A voracious reader, she continued to find solace, knowledge, and humor in her vast personal library.

A talented seamstress, Sandra sewed costumes for Portland's New Rose Theater Company as well as many private clients.

Sandra married Alfred Cooke, an Oregon City Fire Department Lieutenant, on October 3, 1965.  They spent the next 53 years living and loving, camping, enjoying the mountains, and spending time at the Oregon Coast.

She is survived by her husband, Alfred; daughter, April; brother, Jon; brother-in-law, Malcolm; sister-in-law, Patt; and nieces, Josie and Courtney.
