Rudolf “Rudy” Ebers, 96, passed away March 28, 2024, in Gresham, Oregon. He was born August 8, 1927, to Rudolf and Lilli, the middle of 7 children. He was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and the family moved to Hamburg, Germany in 1933.
Rudy immigrated to Ogallala, Nebraska in 1950 and joined the US National Guard. He was drafted to the US Army, where he served for 2 years.
He married Christa Blitz (also from Hamburg) in 1957. They had 2 children, Susan, and Michael. They moved to Portland, Oregon in 1959 and to Gresham, Oregon in 1971.
Rudy worked as a commercial plumber. He retired in 1990 and has been a Local 290 member for 65 years.
Rudy loved the outdoors, finding any excuse to go outside on a sunny day to tend to the yard and garden.
Having dealt personally with WWII as a younger man in Europe, he came to appreciate life, friends, and family.
Survived by wife Christa Ebers; daughter Susan (Michael) Coan; son Michael (Sarah) Ebers, sister Lore; brother Heinz Peter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He will be buried in the Willamette National Cemetery, and Stehn Family Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
