Robert (\u0026quot;Bob\u0026quot;) Bowen Bennett Born: March 28, 1927, in Tillamook, Oregon, to Frank B. and Ethel Mocroft Bennett Died: April 29, 2018, aged 91, in Milwaukie, Oregon Married: Lola Arlene Zastera on August 20, 1949, in Bend, Oregon, who predeceased him on August 11, 2003. He was also predeceased by his parents and his four siblings: Mary, Frank M., Richard, and Donald. Bob\u0027s career was as a physics professor. His undergraduate degree was from Willamette University (class of 1950) and his Ph.D. was from the University of Oregon. His teaching career began at Whitman College in 1957 and ended in 1998 with retirement after thirty years at Central Washington University. Between the two, he participated in National Science Foundation grants (University of Washington, University of Maryland). In 1965-7, he was part of a UNESCO team training science educators in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) and Zambia. Bob had the curiosity of a scientist his entire life. He enjoyed woodworking ranging from repairing items to fine carvings. With family and friends, he enjoyed outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, canoeing, and mountain climbing. He was an avid gardener and bicyclist. He also enjoyed travel and learning about other cultures; in addition to his years in Africa, he traveled to every continent except Antarctica.\u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;He especially enjoyed visiting family living in Japan, Costa Rica, Spain,\u0026nbsp; Peru, and Hong Kong. Bob lived to be the best person he could be at all times, responsible for himself and caring for others. He did his best to leave the world a better place.
