Paul Leo Worthington Paul Worthington was born on March 23, 1921 in the Zena area of Polk County. His parents were Mary Jane and Jesse Worthington. He attended schools both there and in Salem, Oregon, graduating in 1939. He went into the service and served five years in the United States Army. Paul met Mildred Ann Pomeroy and they were married April 23, 1944 in Independence, Oregon. He attended Mortician College in San Francisco, California and worked as a Mortician in Independence, Oregon. He later went to work for Holt Equipment, which later became Franklin Equipment Company, and he became a supervisor. He retired in 1990. Paul was a life member of Lyon Masonic lodge #29, Adah Chapter 34, order of the Eastern Star. He was also a member of the Independence Elks Lodge #1950. He enjoyed golfing, gardening and his many good friends. Survivors include his daughter, Paula, and husband Ruben Soto, of Blythe, California; son Robert and wife Dana, of Richland, Washington; son Richard and wife Sheila, of Fairview, Oregon. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. At his request, there will be no service. Contributions can be made in his name to the Independence Heritage Museum."",
