Paul Henry Egan

October 9, 1927 — September 2, 2014

Paul Henry Egan, 86, of Milwaukie, Oregon passed away on Tuesday, September 2nd at Providence Portland Medical Center.    Born in Syracuse, New York to Michael and Mary Egan, he lived in Estacada and Milwaukie, Oregon.   Paul was preceded in death by his sister Mary Egan Haines.



Paul is survived by his wife, Sheila of 49 years; daughters, Lesley Townsend, Sandie Johnson, Michelle (Greg) Chan;  son, Jack; sister, Ann (Lyman) Van Doren of Lady Lake, Florida; grandchildren, Shae Lee, Scott, Merilee, Alexandra, Beau, Jet, Bryant, Malia and Makaila and great-grandson, Zeke.    Paul was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all.



Paul loved gardening and enjoyed watching baseball and golf.    Paul served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-1947.   He worked in the forestry industry for 34 years.   He graduated from New York State College of Forestry (Syracuse University) with a bachelor of science in 1951.    In 1952 he graduated from Oregon State University with a Masters in Forestry.  Upon graduation from OSU, he worked for Dwyer Lumber Company and then Publishers Paper Company after the company acquired Dwyer Lumber.    He retired in 1986 as the Forest Operations Manager, but was most happy when he was working in the woods.  Paul was a long-time volunteer for Providence Milwaukie Hospital and ushered for 37 years at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Milwaukie.



A funeral mass will be held at noon, Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014 at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Milwaukie.    A private interment will follow at Willamette National Cemetery.
