Patrick Virgil Hughes was born in Coos Bay, Oregon, on February 16, 1959, to William Hughes and Sandra Short (Adams).
He married the girl next door, the love of his life, and they had a blessed life together for 43 years with many adventures and oh, so much laughter.
Patrick spent the majority of his adult life traveling the world with Pan American World Airlines and United Airlines. Patrick was fiercely loyal to his family and friends and spent his time with them making them laugh and telling stories (some tall tales), enjoying music, playing one of his many guitars beautifully (all the while downplaying his skills and stating that he was just learning). He also had a love for the coast and Oregon waterways, which included boating, fishing, and crabbing trips. Patrick enjoyed history of the world, but he also was the family historian—regaling with many stories of those still here and those who passed before him. Most of all he loved his family and they meant the world to him.
He is survived by his wife, Lori; son, Nick; daughter, Candice; brother, Mike; sister, Candi; as well as cousins and many special nieces and nephews and their children. He was proud of each and every one of them.
Patrick eventually lost the battle and passed at home on March 2, 2025, from complications of pulmonary fibrosis.
