Patricia Ann Shervey (Nagel) also known as Patti or Pat, was born June 16, 1950 and was called home to heaven on March 23, 2020. She passed at the age of 69 suddenly, due to complications from emergency gall bladder surgery.
Patti is survived by her husband, Randy Shervey; her children, Rachelle and Ryan Shervey; her grandchildren, Ariana Shervey, Hailey Miller and Alex Miller; and her brother, Stuart Nagel.
She was married to Randy for 43 years. He says "I loved her at first sight but it took 5 years for us to get married". They spent several years traveling the country for Randy's work. She loved those trips; not only to spend time with him, but to get the opportunity to visit places she had never been. She loved to travel!
She grew up in the small town of Wishram, WA. She enjoyed going back to her childhood home where she would gather with friends and reminisce about the "old days". Patti took many trips there during the summer with her family, exploring the places she went as a child. The tradition continued with her daughter and granddaughters, giving insight to the next generation of what her youth was like. Teaching all of them to enjoy that time without all of technology and spending quality time together creating memories.
Patti had an infinite love for children. Whether it was seeing a small child in the grocery store where she would wave and try to make them smile or holding any baby she could get in her arms at family gatherings. Her love for children was evident in the many lists with all of the kids in the family listed and gift ideas.
She was such a giving, compassionate and caring person. She was always trying to find a way to help anyone she could. She contributed to so many charities that the mailing requests she received for more donations would have saved an entire forest.
In the past few years, you would find her spending endless hours working on crossword puzzles to "keep her brain sharp" she would say. Or scrolling through Facebook to check in on everyone, leaving them a note to let them know she was thinking of them. She found relaxation working in the yard on her rose bushes, tomato plants or even just pulling weeds as long as she was able to enjoy the sunshine. And if the sun wasn't out, you would find her bundled in a sweater enjoying the fresh air.
Patti loved endlessly and always put everyone ahead of herself. She was caring, kind, compassionate and always looking for a way to help others. The world has lost a beautiful soul that will truly never be forgotten.
There will be a memorial service in Portland and The Dalles when we are able to celebrate her life together. For now, please visit her Tribute Wall here and light a candle or leave a message for her family and check back soon for the memorial service information.
