Norma Lucille Fuhrman

December 21, 1921 — October 6, 2015

Norma Lucille Fuhrman, 93, of Fairview, Oregon, died at the Legacy Hopewell House on Capitol Hwy. in Portland Oregon on October 6, 2015. Norma was affectionately known as "Aunt Ba" by her niece Linda and also as "Grandma in Sacramento." She resided in many places during her life, including Linton, ND; Seattle, WA; Sacramento, CA; Boring, OR; and Fairview, OR. She is survived and remembered affectionately by her daughter: Carol Root. Her sister: Shirley Anderson. Her niece: Linda Halm. Her grandchildren: Tim Todd; Mark Todd; Valisha Arnold and Nathan Starks. Her great-grand children: Zuriel Todd, Zo« Keith, Ailis Todd, Ian Todd, Alysia Starks, Isabella Starks and Berkeley Starks. Norma worked at the Campbell Soup Company in Sacramento, CA. She once told us the story of how she obtained her employment: During that time, work was very difficult to find, so she went to the Campbell Soup Company early every morning and waited by the door. Everyday she would ask if there was a position available, and ever morning she would receive the same reply - "NO!" After weeks and weeks of continually showing up and repeatedly asking for a job, a manager of the company finally told her - "I am so tired of seeing you here all the time I may as well put you to work." Grandma was employed with the Campbell Soup Company until her retirement. She is remembered for her hard work and her giving spirit - even if it came at great personal cost to herself. She was always available to help out anyone in need. Norma also loved animals and at one time bred Boxer Puppies in Sacramento, CA. Her daughter Carol always appreciated her kindness when it came to putting up with her daughter's love of reptiles, insects, arachnids, and horses. Her grandchildren always appreciated her warm hugs and yummy chocolate and lemon meringue pies. She was an affectionate and loving person who will be greatly missed. Norma was also one of Jehovah's Witnesses and she had a secure hope for her future. She firmly believed in the Bible when it stated at Acts 24:15 - "There is going to be a resurrection." Many believe that the resurrection discussed in that scripture only refers to a heavenly one. However, Norma knew from her study of the scriptures that the resurrection discussed in the Bible also includes being resurrected here, on earth - just as Jesus resurrected Lazarus when he died back to the earth (John 11:39:44). Jesus, himself even stated at John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out" Her greatest and deepest hope was that one day the earth will be a paradise - just as God had originally intended - and then the scripture found at Revelation 21:3,4 will be fulfilled- "Look the tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Norma had shared this scripture with many people during her life. Many times she would hear people say - "That's talking about heaven." She would then kindly reason with them on the fact that heaven has never had death or pain. To her, this could mean only one thing - this was going to happen on earth. Her deep seated beliefs were extremely important and dear to her. If you would like to learn more about her wonderful hope for the future, you can visit www.jw.org . Her ministry was not only an important part of her life, but an important part of her willingness to give of herself. Her family awaits patiently for the time when they can hug "Mom," hug "Aunt Ba," hug "Grandma" in their arms once again."",
