Nicholas Rian Lewis January 22, 1981 - February 1, 2015 Nicholas Lewis passed away on February 1st at home with his family by his side. Nick had fought his 2nd battle of cancer bravely with hope and his usual determination. He was a wonderful, kind and generous young man with many plans for the future. Nick was born in Reno, Nevada after his family moved there due to his father's business move. Shortly after birth he was transported to San Francisco Moffat hospital for surgery and remained in intensive care for a month. After his release the family remained in Reno and enjoyed its Community for several years and then transferred to Denver Colorado, where they also stayed for three years. There they enjoyed the Colorado lifestyle and neighborhood taking many trips to the Rockies. In 1985 Nick and his family moved to Seattle where they settled in the Redmond area in the community of Timberline. While there, Nick went to Montessori school and then to kindergarten at Redmond elementary. After three years the family once again was transferred. This time to Portland, Oregon where they made their home in Tualatin. When he was ten years old, Nick was diagnosed with Bone Cancer. He was treated at Doernbecher Children's Hospital as well as Seattle Children's Hospital. After a year he was declared cancer free. Nick then continued to finish his elementary school and graduated Tualatin high school in 2000. He and his family went on to enjoy happy times at the family cabin at Roads End as well as trips to Bozeman, Montana where they would spend summers with his grandparents traveling to Yellowstone Park and fishing. Nick attended with his family Christ Church Episcopal Parish, Lake Oswego where he was involved with the Youth Group and TEC. Nick had a great fondness for art and decided to pursue his passion for it by attending the Art Institute of Portland. There he took classes to obtain his Associates Degree in Graphic Design. When he graduated he got a paid internship to be a Graphic Designer at the Western Family Foods. His real passion though was in his photography and poetry. He was known for going on walks and every few feet stopping to take a picture of something that caught his eye. Nick became part of the Milwaukie Masonic lodge in 2006. He was a devoted member and loved by all his Masonic brothers who supported him in all his endeavors. He showed his devotion to the lodge by volunteering to oversee the Art Market that they put on for local artists to help not only support the art community, but also to raise money for his lodge. In 2014 he furthered his devotion by joining the Shriners. In 2009 Nick met Deanne Simmons who was a fellow student of the Art Institute and co-worker at Northwest Sports Photography. They became engaged and were together for 6 years facing Nick's health challenges and enjoying their art and world together. They were made for each other and supported each other completely. His last trip was to Denali National Park, Alaska. There he and his parents visited his younger brother Taylor and his family. There Nick enjoyed seeing the beauty of Alaska and having a day of fishing with his brother and father. Nicholas Lewis is survived by his parents, Richard and Margaret Gay Lewis; Brother Taylor Lewis and Sister-in-law Jennifer; Nephew Jack Lewis; Aunts Connie Lewis and Sally Owen; Fianc Deanne S.
