Michell Pantano was born May 24, 1922 in Portland, Oregon to Pietro and Caterina Pantano. Mike spent his life in the Portland area. He graduated from Benson high School before serving in the U.S. Navy as a Motor Machinist's Mate during World War 11. It was during the time he served that he married his sweetheart, June Swan. When he returned home from the service, he held a variety of jobs throughout his years, not officially retiring for the final time until he was 90 years old. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and drove a truck commercially for many of those years. Mikes energy level always exceeded any one job, so he also refereed college basketball in the winter and umpired baseball in the summer. He also owned and operated Pace Auto Parts in Milwaukie throughout the 80's. Mike loved hunting and fishing in his early years & later on, took an avid interest in golf. He was one of those people who knew how to do everything, and could build or fix just about anything. He was the go-to guy for the entire family. He was happiest when all the family would get together, and would often serve fabulous meals re-creating specialties his father taught him to make from the old country. He was always very involved with everyone in the family, and loved all his children and grand children dearly. He was the best husband, best father, best grandfather, and best great-grandfather we could have ever asked for. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, June Pantano, son Kevin, daughter Kathy, 4 grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as Papa: Janelle, Derek, Patrick & Mike, and 6 great grandchildren, Karla, Ethan, Bella, Anna, Lucas & Luca. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2012 @ 2:30 PM @ the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Following the services, everyone is invited to a reception at the Monarch Hotel and Conference Center 12566 SE 93rd Ave. Clackamas, OR 97015 503-652-1515"",
