Michael Allen Raschio

Michael Allen Raschio passed away on April 11, 2021 at the age of 73 in Clackamas, Oregon. He resided in Milwaukie, Oregon for the past 47 years.



Mike is survived by his high school sweetheart, Patricia Raschio, whom he was happily wed for 52 beautiful years; their son, Peter Raschio and his fiancé, Elizabeth Aberg; and grandchildren, Nathan, Kevin, Patrick and Elena; daughters, Charlene Raschio Willett, and Dianna McGinnis and her husband, Mike.  He also leaves behind his loving mother, Lillian Raschio; and sister, Kathy Schomaker and her husband, Mark. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Peter Raschio.



Mike was born and raised in Portland, Oregon.  He attended St. Philip Neri grade school, graduated from Cleveland High School in 1965, and received his Engineering Degree from University of Portland in 1969.  He enjoyed a 36-year federal government career, working for the Bonneville Power Administration starting in 1968 and retired in 2004.  At BPA, he worked as an Engineer and manager in Transmission System Planning and also in Transmission Customer Service as an Account Executive.  Mike was also proud to have served as an officer in the US Coast Guard in Portland, Maine from 1970-1973.  Following retirement from BPA, he continued to work in the industry as a consultant, primarily for wind and solar generation companies until his death.  He was a true man of service involved in his community as an active parishioner and Board member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church & School and a member of the Elks Lodge and American Legion.



Everyone will forever remember Mike's big smile and his fabulous laugh.  He was a very social person who loved being with his friends and family.  Attending his children and later his grandkids sporting events was a highlight of his life!  His strong faith in God, and his family and friends, were inspirations in the life he led.  Mike had a true appreciation of lifetime learning through his love of history, archaeology, and reading of National Geographic. Mike embraced his strong Italian heritage wholeheartedly!  He loved to be in his garden and grew the best berries, vegetables, fruits, and flowers, creating a beautiful yard for his family and friends to enjoy.  Italian food (especially with hot peppers), travel, golf, stamp collecting, hosting parties, spending time with his family in Depoe Bay at the Oregon Coast, and just enjoying having a good time with family and friends were the things that gave him the greatest joys in life.  Mike lived life with joy, generosity, and appreciation.  At mealtime he would say, "Mangia! Mangia!" an Italian saying that means "Eat Up! Eat Up!" words that will forever be a reminder of his vivacious personality and his joy of experiencing good food with family and friends.



In celebration of Michael's life, the following service plans have been arranged:

A Visitation will be held May 3rd from 12:00-6:00pm at Stehn Family Chapels, 2906 SE Harrison Street, Milwaukie, OR.  97222.  Reservations are required, please see below to RSVP.

May 4th a Rosary will be held at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church 10955 SE 25th Ave., Milwaukie, OR.  97222. For those that cannot attend in person, the funeral will be live streamed on the St. John the Baptist Facebook page  or their YouTube page.

A private cemetery service with Military Honors will be held at Willamette National Cemetery.



In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or The Clayton Mohr Commons through Do Good Multnomah; this organization assists Veterans in transition.  Please see below for more information.
