Michael William Berrevoets passed away unexpectedly on August 8th, 2024, from complications of Covid and pneumonia. Mike was a generous, selfless, caring, shining example of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, friend, and member of the community. He was equally loved and revered by those who were fortunate enough to know him. He loved to be active and outdoors, fishing, boating, camping, and hiking. He found joy in listening to music, reading, and cribbage. He loved and always prioritized spending time with family. His excitement and love for his grandson, Foster, was undeniable - and affectionately adopted the nickname “Mr. Mike.”
Mike was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on July 7th, 1954, to Doris Mae Berrevoets and William Berrevoets, Jr. He attended Kentwood High School, class of 1972. Then attended Grand Valley State University, class of 1976 majoring in his favorite subject, Accounting. Mike visited Oregon after graduating, hiking a section of the Pacific Crest Trail, and immediately decided to call Oregon home.
Mike was married to Lorraine Louise "Lori" Jahnz on August 14th, 1982. They enjoyed summers camping in the Cascades, skiing in the winter, and spending time with their friends. And raising their children, Nathan Michael Berrevoets, and Ashley Ann Berrevoets McCarthy.
Mike is survived by his wife, Lori; two children, Nathan (Jillian) and Ashley (Dan); grandson, Foster; and granddaughter, Holland. He is also survived by his 97-year-old father, William; sister, Lynne DeBoer; and brother, Gregory Berrevoets.
There will be a private gathering at a later date to celebrate Mike’s life. His ashes will be scattered across his favorite fishing holes and sentimental locations.
