Merle Richard Gilb

Merle Richard Gilb was born in Los Angeles, CA to William R. and Freda (Mott) Gilb. He married Frances M. Hays on November 25, 1945. He lived in Inglewood, CA before moving to Lebanon, OR in late 1953 and then to Milwaukie, OR in 1990. He worked as a switchman for the Linn County Telephone Company in Lebanon. Merle was a member of First Christian Church both in Lebanon and Portland. He served as a First Lieutenant in the Army Corps of Engineer from 1942 to 1946 and as a Captain in the Corps of Engineers, California National Guard until 1952. Merle is survived by his daughter, Joyce Bucci; son, Terry Gilb and wife, Paula; grandchildren, Jocelyn and Justin West and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
