Mary Virginia Kiene

Mary Kiene was born January 12, 1915 in Lincoln, Nebraska to William and Lola Bump. When she was six the family moved to Mukilteo, Washington where she grew up. She graduated from Everett High School and then moved to Seattle, Washington where she worked for JC Penney's. In 1938 she married Robert Kiene. During the war she worked in the shipyard. In 1952 they moved to Stayton, Oregon where she worked for Williams Bakery. In the late 1950's they moved to Coos Bay, Oregon where she again worked for JC Penney's, she continued to work for them when they moved to Portland in early 1970's until her retirement in 1977. Mary was an avid reader. She is survived by her children, Bob Kiene and wife, Joan and Judy Grimes; grandchildren, Greg Kiene and wife, Bridget, Sara Tourtel and husband, Eric, Cathy Clark, Kevin Grimes and wife, Janet and Scott Grimes and wife, Nancy; and great grandchildren, Jake, Zack, Cassie, Alaia, Lainey, Charlotte, Matthew, Analea, Ian and Peter. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers, one sister and son-in-law. A Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Stehn Family Chapels Milwaukie Tribute Center, Milwaukie, OR. Private interment will be held at Lincoln Memorial Park, Portland, OR. Those wishing may contribute in her memory to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
