Mary Phyllis Edgerton

A Mass Of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, April 23, 2012 in St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Oregon City for Mary Phyllis Edgerton, who died April 16, 2012 at age 85. Recitation of the rosary will precede the Mass at 10:30 AM. Burial will be at Willamette National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband at 2:00 PM. Father Paschal Ezurike will officiate the Services. Phyllis was born to William C. Bauer and Mary Anne Whitty on July 11, 1926 in Portland, Oregon, grew up in Milwaukie and attended St. John\u0027s Catholic School and later St. Mary\u0027s Academy in Portland. She attended Oregon State College in 1944-46 and later moved to Coos Bay where she met her husband, Edward Guy Edgerton. They married on February 11, 1950 at St. Monica\u0027s Catholic Church. They had 5 children. In May of 1953 they moved to Beaverton. In 1962, the family moved to Southwest Portland near Lake Oswego and lived there until the children were grown. Then in 1984 they moved to Battleground, Washington. In 2004, Phyllis and Ed built a new home in Oregon City. After the children were raised, Phyllis started working at a nearby grade school. Phyllis enjoyed playing with and caring for each of her seven grandchildren. Phyllis and Ed loved to travel. In retirement they took numerous trips throughout the United States and Europe. Besides travel, she was an avid card player and enjoyed reading and gardening. Phyllis\u0027 faith, family, friends, and service to others were the focus of her life. She was a hospice volunteer for a number of years while living in Battleground. On February 11, 2000, Phyllis and Ed celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Survivors include four sons, one daughter, and seven grandchildren; Edward G. Jr., Daniel R., Deborah A., Ronald L., and William N. Her husband Edward G. Edgerton, her parents, William and Mary Bauer, and her brother, Richard Bauer, predeceased her."",
