Mary Frances Conrad was born March 1, 1943 in Edinburgh, Scotland, to Theodore and Mary Allan. Mary grew up in Edinburgh, and after graduating High School, worked in hotels in London and Blackpool England. In 1961 she met Frank Conrad, who was stationed at Kirknewton Royal Air Force Base. They were married in the Base Chapel and honeymooned in Brighton, England. In 1962 they moved to the States, settling first in Corvallis and then in the St. John\u0027s area of Portland. Mary joined and became active in the Daughters of the British Empire D.B.E... She worked for Steinfields and at the new Portland Rose Restaurant. She also became the mom of Frank and Rob. In 1974 Mary and her family moved to Gladstone. She continued to be active in the D.B. E. and also joined the Welcome Wagon program. In 1976 she became a U.S. citizen. Mary worked for many years for Van Duyn Chocolates, often coming home smelling sweet and chocolaty. She very much enjoyed her co-workers and the many many customers. Mary was an avid card player, reader and walker. And she loved to shop. She enjoyed travelling, many times back to Scotland, to France and much of the Western U.S. and Canada. Mary is survived by her husband Frank, sons Frank and Rob, granddaughter Amanda, great granddaughters Kaylin and Emma, sisters Barbara Nantz of Torrance, California and Margaret Potts of Alness, Scotland, and many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. She was predeceased by her parents and three brothers. Mary was a kind, caring and loving wife, mom, grandma and great grandma. She will be missed dearly. Arrangements by Peake Memorial.
