Loyal E. Morey

December 31, 1921 — February 7, 2012

Loyal Elton Morey, a Woodburn resident, passed away peacefully February 7, 2012 at the Parkside Adult Care Home in Milwaukie. Loyal was born December 31,1921 in Yakima, Washington. One of seven children born to Charles and Kathren Morey. He spent his childhood in Brownsville, Oregon, later moving to Portland where he graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School. On June 1,1942 he married Jane Foltz and together they raised four daughters. He was an active member of the Mazamas and was involved with several mountain rescues. A life long Elk Lodge member, he had the honor of holding the position of Exalted Ruler for Milwaukie Lodge #2032. Loyal was a great American. He loved the flag and what it stood for. During WWII Loyal was a Supervisor for shipbuilding at the Kaiser Shipyards. He then owned and operated Morey\u0027s Lamp Center for over thirty years. His last fifteen years were spent as a machinist for TVT Die Casting in Tigard, Oregon. He is survived by his wife of seventy years Jane, daughters Susan, Sally and Mary, eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter Jackie. Loyal was a member of the Woodburn Christian Church. Memorial service will be held Monday Feb. 13, 2012 @ 1:00 PM at Peake Memorial Chapel in Milwaukie."",
