Lou was born in Council Bluff, Iowa in a family of 9 brothers and sisters. Lou moved to Vancouver, WA in the 1940s, and eventually moved to Northwest Portland, Beaverton and Southeast Portland. Lou had one son, one daughter, three step-children, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Lou started his career working in electronics, and as a truck driver. An automobile accident forced a change in careers which led him to go to refrigeration school. After refrigeration school (1980) he purchased Bonnie’s Drive Inn in NW Portland as the owner operator, frying burgers and fries. After three years he sold Bonnie’s, and started a refrigeration business working on commercial refrigeration, HVAC, and AC units until retirement.
After retiring Lou stayed busy songwriting, playing guitar, working on home improvements, and playing poker with his friends every Saturday night. Lou and his wife, Annetta were married in 1991, and set out on many adventurous road trips visiting family, and site seeing The United States including Alaska.
We will remember Lou for his need to help, infectious smile, great story telling, and his many jokes he shared with everyone.
A Cemetery Service with full Military Honors will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, December 6, 2024 at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Oregon.
