Lillie Irma Robertson

August 1, 1925 — December 8, 2016

Lillie Irma Robertson was born on 8/1/25 in Frobisher, Saskatchewan, Canada and passed away on 12/8/16 in Portland, Oregon at the age 91. Lillie was born August 1, 1925, in Frobisher Saskatchewan to German immigrants Rudolf and Martha Roleder from the German speaking Volhynia region of Ukraine. As a small child she moved with her family first to Alberta and then to Vancouver B.C. when she was 8 years old. Lillie lived in Vancouver, attending school and working at various jobs including Spencer\u0027s Department Store and Murchies Tea, until 1955 when she and a friend craving adventure decided to move to Portland, Oregon. While her friend did not last a year, Lillie settled in and made Portland her new home. She worked for Fred Meyer on Swan Island and became involved with local community and church organizations, including Central Bible Church and later Hinson Memorial Baptist Church. Lillie met her future husband Earnest Gladstone Robertson (d. April 2002) through mutual friends; the couple married on March 1, 1960. She was a devoted mother to her two children, Laurie and Ken, volunteering at their schools and providing home-cooked meals for her family, neighbors, and those in need. Her hospitality was legendary and she loved to cook and bake for all. Her faith, family and many volunteer opportunities sustained her through life. She loved spending time on the Oregon Coast, especially Cannon Beach, with her family and friends. Lillie is survived by daughter Laurie Robertson (spouse Jeff Joehnk), son Ken Robertson (spouse Antony Smith), sisters Ruth Belsher and Martha Hepting, and many loving nieces and nephews.
