Leta Louise Reid, our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Mother-In-Law, Cousin, and friend passed away at Providence Medical Center in Portland, Oregon on August 11, 2018 at the age of 82. Leta is predeceased by her husband, John Frederick Reid, her brother, Arthur Poindexter, and her sister, LaQuita Hall. Leta was born in Hamilton, Montana on August 3, 1936 to Francis and Lilly Poindexter. She was the oldest of her four sisters, Eva, LaQuita, Sharon, and Colleen, and her brother Arthur. Her family moved from Montana to the Oregon coast and then to Bend, Oregon. While attending high school in Bend, Leta met her future husband, John Reid. They were married on March 7, 1952 in Vancouver, Washington. Leta and John had four boys; Kenneth, Terry, Randy, and John. Leta enjoyed participating in her sons' activities from Cub Scouts to high school sports to motorcycle pit crew. Leta worked for Hirsch-Weis making water bags, Ames-Harris doing sewing work, and was cook at GG's Restaurant for many years, all while running her household. Leta enjoyed cooking for her family, making arts and crafts, camping, gardening, shopping, and playing Oregon Megabucks. Christmas was always at Grandma's house. She was most happy when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren came to visit or she was asked to babysit. Leta's life touched so many people and like ripples on the ocean, we can't see how far the ripples go. Her very presence influenced the course of life itself and affected us all. Leta's greatest and most profound gift is woven into her descendants. Those who will always carry her as part of them and may continue to pass on this legacy are her great-grandchildren Rae Reid, Remy Reid, Ellis Kirkwood, Nell Reid, Olive Kirkwood, Lily Reid, and Noah Kirkwood - her grandchildren Joseph Reid, Michael Reid, Jeffrey Reid, Rebecca Kirkwood, Kyle Reid, Kristin Klein, Cody Reid, Nicholas Reid, and Gregory Reid - and her sons John Reid, Randy Reid, Terry Reid, and Kenneth Reid.
