Leo Ray Blocker, Jr.

A fella once told me when you borrow something it's not forever.  In time you will have to return it.  That nice car you borrow from your buddy.  That cute blouse your girlfriend lent you.  Well our Lord came back to take home what was his on October 26th, 2018; my father, your friend, uncle, grandfather (poppa), brother - a borrowed man, Leo Ray Blocker, Jr.



Son to Leo Ray Blocker, Sr. and Ella O. Blocker, he was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota and came to Oregon at a very young age.  Leo has four brothers, Larry, George, Fred and Marvin and one sister, Angie who preceded him in death; and two living sisters, Linda of Idaho and Lillian of Texas.  Leo graduated from Cleveland High at which time he enlisted into the Air Force; a Veteran true and proud.  Upon his return Leo went right into the workforce and got a job for Freightliner where he installed upholstery until rising to the rank of Plant Foreman and retired from that one and only job. Leo was a life-long devoted Christian who loved to fish and enjoyed camping.  And let's not leave out the occasional game of Poker; yeah those that knew, he liked Poker.



Leo leaves behind his two children, Leigha (daughter to Sandra) and Michael (son to Sheila); he also has one granddaughter to Leigha - Kaylee with whom he raised from a very young age.  His fifth wife, Samantha who preceded him in death, we all lost so tragic and abrupt in 2017.  But in Leo's later years, for all of us that were close to him, we realized his true love was ABBY!!! Yep! The love he showed and had for that Papillon was very evident to all who know him.  He always had a special way with his cats and dogs.  They always loved him like nothing we have ever seen, and he loved them every bit as much in return.  He had just lost his cat, Polly of 18 years about two months ago.  We know Polly is in his lap right now getting all the affection she so craved.



Metal detecting over the last 15 years had become a passion for him.  He always had a metal detector on the ready for an empty playground or vacant lot.  Treasures - Treasures - Treasures . . . which led him down the road of collecting.  Yes, Leo was a collector of things!!  But don't ever call it junk! Or as April often told him - crap!!! Boy would that get him to give her that look.



We found Leo had a near and dear friend in his Christian brother, Doug!  From his loved ones, for whom you turned out to be A Godsend . . . Thank you! And April (Michael's fiancé) the daughter to him in the end that he trusted, loved and cherished (maybe more than his own son), You too were such a Godsend in such a time.  And our beloved Aunt Patti, his friend, his rock to the very end, Amazing!  What he would have done this last year if it had been without you to keep watch and checking in every day.  Amazing!! And to all the nameless and fadeless friends that read this, he sees You and will never stop praying for you.  Amen.



So this borrowed man, Leo; we know was welcomed through those Golden Gates with open arms to be with our Lord.  And in his time with us, as dementia crept in, that was the one thing that never wavered or was forgotten; his love and devotion to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!



Dad - May you walk with your King and fly with the angels as you forever look down on us.  For we will always be looking up to you, as your son looked up to you while here on Earth.  We love you and you are going to be forever missed . . . .
