March 21, 1961 — March 28, 2011

Leland Michael Hampton, 50, a resident of the Portland community died Monday, March 28, 2011 at Providence Milwaukie Hospital following a brief illness. A Celebration Of Life Service will be held Saturday, April 2, 2011 @ 11:00 AM at Peake Funeral Chapel, 1925 SE Scott Street, Milwaukie, Oregon with Celebrant Cindy Hinton officiating. Private Cremation Rites have been held. Family and Friends are invited to a reception in the Friendship Area immediately following the service. Leland Michael Hampton was born March 21, 1961 in Vallejo, California to Lawrence and Rosemary Harris Hampton. He moved around a bit as a young man as his father was active duty military man. Over the years Leland lived in the Phillipeans, Germany, Alaska, Maryland, Georgia and finally back to Oregon in 1973. He graduated in 1979 from John Marshall High School in Portland. Leland worked in the wearhouse docking area at Nordstroms and completed a computer technician class. He worked at the Eaton Company for a short time and then joined the staff at Hoya Vision where he has worked for just over eighteen years. Among his personal interests he enjoyed space travel. He loved to watch the Battle Star Galactica Series and Star Trek, it was a something he collected. He also loved cars. Leland had several classic cars that he fixed up with the chrome rims and wide tires but his favorite was the red Firebird. He was always planning what improvements he would make next. He enjoyed trips to the beach and playing with his sisters\u0027 dog. Most recently he traveled to Seattle with a friend to see the Scorpians in Concert. The Oakland Raiders were his favorite team. Survivors include his mother, Rosemary Harris of Portland, his twin brother, Leroy Hampton of Portland, two sisters, Roberta Gilbert of Seward, Nebraska and Jeaneen Gibson of Milwaukie, Oregon as well as six nieces and nephews. The family suggests that remembrances maybe contributions made to the Oregon Humane Society , Portland, Oregon in his memory. Please continue to check back for information and photo updates."",
