LaVern passed away on September 28, 2022, at the age of 75 after a battle with dementia.
He was born on June 14, 1947, in La Crosse, Wisconsin to parents Delores Nichols and Clyde Raines. He later moved to Portland, Oregon and graduated from Benson High School. He was a veteran who served in the Navy as a pipefitter and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He later became a business owner of an auto repair and auto supply shop until his retirement in 2015.
LaVern was an avid fisherman, hunter, collector of sports memorabilia. He loved attending sporting events and cruise-ins where he showcased his award-winning Camaro convertible. He was generous, kind, and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patricia; children, Karen and Mark; and siblings, Charlotte and Walt.
