Larry Cornell Millington

August 15, 1932 — March 25, 2021

Larry "Rusty" Millington passed away in Milwaukie, OR at age 88.

He was born in Portland, Oregon to Hazel and George "Cornell" Millington.

After graduating from Washington High School in 1950, he married Barbara Schweitzer in 1952 and was blessed with daughter, Judy, and son, David.

Larry began his career as a machinist for Iron Fireman, what is now, Boeing of Portland. He then spent 35 years in the purchasing profession, earning one of the first Certified Purchasing Manager's accreditations in 1972.  While working full-time, he attended night school at Portland State University beginning in 1963 and graduated in 1972 - an accomplishment he was most proud of.  Larry retired in 1998 from Zidell Marine as their Purchasing Agent - a job he loved.

Larry and Barbara divorced; he later married Frances Porter in 1979 and welcomed her three daughters, Patsy, Debbie and Claudia, and two sons, Don and Rick.  During the years of Frances' decline in health, Larry provided extraordinary care for her until Frances passed away in 2016.

Larry was a devoted believer in Jesus Christ, and was a grateful 20 year recovering alcoholic.  Larry was humbly thankful for Hazelden/Springbrook treatment center, the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous, New Hope Community Church and their Life Recovery Ministries, and the many who he sponsored and mentored.

He had an outgoing personality and enjoyed volunteering, traveling, fifth-wheeling, hunting, and fly fishing in his retirement years.

Larry is survived by all of his children and his loving companion, Nancy Wright.

Contributions in his memory may be made to New Hope Community Church (see information below).
