June Meininger passed away peacefully in her sleep, and has gone to be with the Lord in Heaven, where she will make it a better place. Her hospitality and love for all people, along with her cheery disposition and sense of humor made her a joy to be around. Every person in a checkout line, waiting for the bus, or met on a walk or vacation was her friend. June's maiden name was James, born June 20, 1922 in Portland, Oregon. She graduated from Commerce High School in 1941 and worked as a secretary for the Department of the Interior. During WW II she volunteered for the Red Cross and USO. She met Jesse Herman Meininger at a war time dance where they fell in love, married, and maintained a faithful loving relationship for 36 years. Jesse predeceased her in 1978, and youngest son Edward predeceased her in 2000. Raising 5 boys in a small house was no small task, but she handled the task with a commendable grace and persistence. She was content with her life and let her family know "If I had my life to live over I wouldn't have it any other way, but marry the same man and have 5 wonderful sons." She was a homemaker for 36 years and then worked as an accounting clerk at Pacific Power and Light until retirement in 1987. After retirement she volunteered at a local hospital and at the Milwaukie Senior Center. She is survived by sons Wilhelm Meininger and wife Robin, Walter Meininger, Carl Meininger and wife Karen, Mark Meininger, and 4 grandchildren; Brenda Dosher, Andrew Meininger, Matt Meininger, and Nathan Meininger. There will be a Celebration of Life at Peake Memorial Chapel in Milwaukie, Oregon on Monday March 17 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery."",
