John J. Coursey was born in Rosebud, South Dakota on June 9, 1921 to Lila and Joseph Coursey. His father Joseph Coursey was a government attorney for the affairs of the Native Americans. John had 2 sisters and 1 brother. He was a graduate of the University of Oregon and served in the Navy in WW11. He married Patricia (Ildstad) Coursey in 1948. This June they celebrated 61 years of marriage. They have 2 daughters, Cindy and Pam. John was Vice president of the First State Bank of Oregon (Key Bank) in Milwaukie from 1955 until he retired. He was active in the Milwaukie Center and helped start Stroke clubs in Milwaukie and Portland. He served on the Senior Employment Advisory Board at Clackamas Community College. He was the recipient of the North Clackamas County Chamber of Commerce first citizen Award in 1981. John was very well known for his civic involvement in his community. He is survived by his wife Patricia, children Cindy Hufford and Pam (John) Shoberg, grandchildren; Thomas Scalzitti, Sara (Rob) Shearer, Rachel Shoberg, Harrison Shoberg and great grandson Owen Shearer.
