Joann Catherine Mccormick

JoAnn C. McCormick went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday May 16, 2021 at the age of 83. She was surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren.
JoAnn was born in Mexico, MO on June 18, 1937. She was the oldest of four sisters born to Edwin and Agnus Seckler. Her parents were farmers and JoAnn being the oldest was the one to help her dad in the fields and taking care of the animals. She attended along with her sisters St. Brendan's Catholic School in Mexico, MO.
In JoAnn's teen years she worked at the feed store in Centralia, MO. She was very family oriented and enjoyed driving the family Chevy, especially from Centralia to Mexico, MO. She was known by her friends and family to love to race the train on the highway between those two towns. Her dad would always try and send her sister Dorothy, to keep an eye on her and out of trouble. A lot of good that did because she did not listen to her.
Her family moved to Tucson, AZ in 1956 due to her father's health. There she met the love of her life, Kenneth at Tucson Gardens. She married Kenneth on August 3, 1957. She gave birth to a daughter, Debbie in 1959 and a son, Kenneth Jr. in 1960.
In 1961 the family started attending Tucson Baptist Temple where she met her Lord and Savior. She taught 2nd grade and later the Junior High Dept. for Sunday School. In 1969 the family moved to Springfield, MO for Kenneth to attend Baptist Bible College.
June of 1973 began her Ministry Legacy in becoming a Pastor's wife at Tri-City Baptist Temple for 45 years. JoAnn and her husband, Dr. Ken McCormick were the founders of Tri-City Baptist Temple in Gladstone, OR., from 1973 to 2018.
She loved being a Pastor's wife, Director of the Women's Ministry, Secret Pal Ministry as well as a former Chaplain at Willamette Falls Hospital in Oregon City; but, JoAnn's greatest love was for her family and her doggies.
JoAnn is survived by her husband of 64 years, Kenneth; daughter, Debbie; son, Kenneth (Rusty) Jr.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in her honor at 1:30 pm, June 3, 2021 at Tri-City Baptist Temple, Gladstone, OR.
In lieu of flowers, JoAnn's wish was for donations to be made to the local Humane Society and PETA. Tri-City Baptist Temple would like to honor JoAnn with an Honorary Plaque to be placed at the church; donations may be made to Tri-City Baptist Temple - Mrs. JoAnn McCormick Memorial.
