I Did My Job
Yes, once I was a child,
a root of my kind.
God gave me this job,
in turn it was mine.
I had the years of making life,
to seed the world strong.
So, they will feel, all I have felt,
and then, they'll carry on.
In our growth we learned to love,
to fell sorrow and pain.
We had lots of laughter and joy,
we played the worldly game.
I have been getting wiser,
each and everyday.
I use to walk up-right,
but, now in bed I lay.
My ears have turned off it's sound,
all I have is thought.
My eyes can see no light,
my life have seen a lot.
My voice has gotten soft and weak,
I said all I had to say.
My bones are very old now,
as my skin wrinkles away.
When death comes and take my hand,
I know what's in store.
For while I have did my job,
my job will be no more.
