James "J.D." Robert Pelfrey

May 25, 1932 — August 31, 2021

James "J.D." Robert Pelfrey was born and raised in Jackson, KY.  He joined the US Army at the age of 16 and served 8 years during the Korean War with which he was wounded and received a Purple Heart.  After his discharge, he lived in Indiana and then moved to Portland, OR where he worked for the Steamfitters Union for over 20 years, before he retired for medical reasons.



For 10 years he traveled by RV from Portland to Florida and back; later moving back to Kentucky, in Winchester for 5 years and then to Washington until his death.  He was a member of the Masonic Temple Multnomah No. 1 in Oregon City and of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).



He is survived by two brothers; children, Dena Roush, Doug Mishler, Denise Nation and Jim Pelfrey; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Kizzy Pelfrey; wife, Marjorie in 2004; daughter, Debra Kvernvik; and 10 siblings.



A Cemetery Service with full Military Honors will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Oregon.
