James Junior Craig passed away on August 18, 2021, at 86 years of age.
He was born on December 13, 1934, in Los Angeles, California. He lived and worked in California and Oregon, before moving to Milwaukie, Oregon, where he lived for the past 43 years.
James served in the US Army beginning in 1957 and was honorably discharged in 1959 at the rank of Spec. 4. In his lifetime, he worked a variety of professions, including cook, statistician, accountant, and restaurant owner. He worked as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service for 11 years, before retiring in 1997.
James was known for his wise counsel and devotion to his family. In his spare time, he enjoyed travel, cooking and reading. Vacations, which included visiting family, camping in the redwoods and traveling to Disneyland, were memories especially treasured by his family.
James was the loving husband of his wife, Dolores, with whom he celebrated his 60th wedding anniversary in June of this year. He was father to two sons, Jim and Mark; grandfather to Andy; brother to seven siblings: sisters, Katharine, Winifred, Diana and Teresa; and brothers, Raymond, Ralph and Thomas. He was preceded in death by Winifred and Raymond, as well as his parents, James and Helen Craig.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 14700 SE Rupert Street, Oak Grove, OR 97267.
