Jack Henry Weemhoff was born in Marion County, IN on February 16th, 1933, the only child of Henry & G. Bonniebell Weemhoff. He attended Shortridge High School in his home town of Indianapolis, Indiana. Jack enlisted in the Army from January 1955 until December 1957 and exited with an honorable discharge as a Specialist 3. He met his wife, Shirley Mae Harris in Raleigh, NC and they were married on Sept. 29, 1956.
Jack went to Butler and Indiana Universities and received a BA degree in 1960 then went on to Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio and earned his MBA in Hospital Administration. Jack worked for several non-profit organizations like Girl Scouts of America and Little Red Door cancer center before his internship in Hospital Administration at Emanuel Hospital in Portland, OR. He served as Hospital Administrator at Umatilla Hospital and as Personnel Director at Dwyer Hospital in Milwaukie (now Providence Milwaukie). He retired at age 62 to take care of his wife Shirley who had Parkinson's disease. They were married for 54 years until Shirley died in 2010.
He died at a care facility in Portland on May 5, 2019. Jack is survived by his only son, John.
A Memorial Mass will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Portland, Oregon. Interment was held at Willamette National Cemetery.
