Herbert Dean ""Herb"" Harris

Herbert Dean Harris passed away at his home in Milwaukie, Oregon, with his family by his side. He was born June 10th, 1935 in Torrington, Wyoming to Harold B Harris and Marion N Sorrick. His family moved to Estacada, Oregon in the 40\u0027s-- Herb went to school out there. Both Harold and Marion worked in the shipyards during WWII. Later they moved to Portland and settled in Milwaukie in 1952. Herbert had two brothers that preceded him in death, Keith and Robert Harris. His wife Dorene Hazel Moodenbaugh passed in December of 2011. They were married for 56 years. They have 5 children, Richard Dean, David Scott, Steven Lawerance (Theresa), Russell James, and Julie Linn (Kyle). 6 grandchildren; Jacquelin, Justin, Jered, Amber, Ashley, and KeriAnn. Herb has two living sister-in-laws Eleanor (Harris) and Betty Thomas. Many nieces and nephews and extended family. Herbert worked as a jack-of-all-trades in his younger days including the Tillamook Cheese Factory. He worked as a welder/fitter down at the shipyards at Swan Island until he retired at 62. He loved camping and fishing with his family. Hunting with his sons, grandsons, and buddies. Herb was a very kind and generous man, He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. A memorial service for Herb will be held at the Milwaukie Elks Lodge on March 20th, 2016 starting at 1:00 PM.
