Helen L. Burford was born on November 26, 1933 and passed on March 29, 2013. Helen was the youngest of three sisters born to Nena and Edwin Sauter of Milwaukie. She grew up working in the berry fields owned by her mom and dad. She met her future husband Grant (Bud) Burford at Oaks Park skating rink. They married on February 6, 1953 and recently celebrated a sixty year anniversary. After her kids were all in school she started working for the Clackamas School District at Carver Elementary School. After 30 years in food service, Helen retired at John McLaughlin Middle School in 1998 as Head Cook. As a talented seamstress she loved sewing and making clothes for her family. Later in retirement she took up quilting and you could find her always in her sewing room day or night. Another gift she discovered was hand crafting Christmas cards using rubber stamps. Helen is preceded in death by her sisters Maxine and Loretta. She is survived by her husband Bud, children Debbi McGuyer (Mike), Dan Burford (Cindy), and Scott Burford.
