Gerald William "Jerry" Stewart
December 17, 1924 — May 15, 2018
Jerry was the son of John and Vida Stewart who raised him in Southeast Portland. He was a WWII Army veteran, having served in combat in Normandy and Germany. Jerry married Mary Watkins in 1961.
He returned to Portland where he worked as the manager of aviation construction for the Port of Portland before starting his own engineering practice. Jerry was a noted Portland builder of contemporary custom homes. Two fine examples of homes he built are on SW Dosch Road in Hillsdale and SE Hillcrest Drive in West Linn. He also built a vacation home in Mulegé, Mexico.
Jerry was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret, Mary and Irene. He is survived by his wife; brother, Robert (Jan); daughter, Madeleine; granddaughter Desiree; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A cemetery service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Willamette National Cemetery Portland, OR with a reception to follow.
