Floriene Mae Lautenschlager-Tondreau passed peacefully in her sleep on December 21, 2023, at the age of 103. She was born on September 1, 1920, to Charles and Frances Lautenschlager in Carlton, Nebraska. She married Hubert Adler Tondreau on June 14, 1941, and they lived in York, Nebraska. They moved to Portland, Oregon after Hubert was discharged from the Navy in 1946. In 1956, they moved to Milwaukie, Oregon where they raised their five children.
Floriene was a homemaker but found her dream job as a Library Assistant for the Milwaukie School District where she could share her love of books. Her hobbies were bowling, playing cards, puzzles, and crocheting. She especially loved playing games with her grandchildren.
She loved to go on cruises and travel abroad and made many trips to Europe. She found she especially enjoyed spending time at the beach. She bought a house at the Oregon coast where she spent much of her retired time watching the waves from her front windows.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert; son, Michael Tondreau (Virginia); grandson, Nathan Tondreau; and brother, Max Lautenschlager.
She is survived by children, David (Evelyn) Tondreau, Tim (Karen Ann) Tondreau, Mollie Siri (Jim), and John (Karen Jo) Tondreau; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and brother, Harley Lautenschlager.
Our mom was such a sweet and kind person, and we will always be grateful having a mom like her guiding us through life. We will miss you, Mom. Love you, Mom.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
