Our loving, warmhearted and carefree old man, Elwood "Al" Price died Friday, May 30, 2014 at his home, surrounded by those who loved him. Born April 5, 1921 in Portland, OR to Harold and Alice (Bryan) Price, Al spent all his life in the Portland and Milwaukie area. He attended Benson High School in Portland before joining the US Army. He served with the Army's 806th Replacement Battalion until December 1945 and then reenlisted and served with Troop A 43rd Calvary Reconnaissance Squadron until 1947. After his military service he worked for Bank of America for 2 years and then returned to Portland to work for Southern Pacific Railroad until he retired.
After the death of his wife, Stacia Mary Price, Al found love again with Darlene Hammer. They were married May 7, 1985 in Reno, Nevada. With his marriage to Darlene came a large and loving family where he became the ever loving and proud dad and grandpa.
Al loved to bowl and served as Secretary for the KP Commercial League at Kellogg Bowl for 20 years and bowled on "The Seagulls" where he was known as "Big Bird". He was a member of the American Legion Post 180 in Milwaukie. He and Darlene loved to travel and go camping, they especially loved going to Jamaica and the beach with the seagulls.
