Frieda Bornemeier passed away October 13, 2017, at age 94. Born Elsie Frieda Timmerman on December 23, 1922, on a farm near Gales Creek, Oregon, she was a long-time resident of the Milwaukie, Oregon area. The daughter of John and Della Timmerman and wife of Roland Bornemeier, Frieda spent much of her life raising two sons and managing the bookkeeping and business of her husband\u0027s residential construction activities in the area around Oak Grove, Oregon. She grew up with sister, Ella, and brothers, John and Ralph, on a rural Washington county farm located near the community of Hayward and near the crossings of Timmerman Road and Highway 6. Frieda attended a one-room schoolhouse that still stands on Wilson School Road. She graduated from Forest Grove High School. Shortly after high school graduation, Frieda went to work in the small business office of Fred G. Meyer when it was still a one-store operation in downtown Portland. Shortly after meeting Roland Bornemeier at a dance at the Oddfellows Building, Frieda married Roland and became a war bride. She waited out World War II by taking on a variety of jobs. After the war, Roland and Frieda began building homes in the Oak Grove area, and they continued in the building trade until their retirement. Frieda enjoyed family activities and travel, camping trips, PTA, square dancing with the Oaky-Doaks dance group, newspaper and jigsaw puzzles, and was active in a number of local Lutheran churches over the years. Frieda is survived by her sons, Ronald and Douglas, daughters-in-law, Susanne and Amy, and grandchildren, Brent, Jon and Anna.
