Elizabeth Margaret (Bortolot) Salsbery, 85, died March 31, 2014 in Portland of age-related causes. She was born April 7, 1928, in Coaticooke, Quebec, Canada, to Pilgrim Bortolot of Zopp di Cadore, Italy, and Mary Beatrice Loughrey of Lancaster, Vermont. She graduated from Derby Academy in Derby, Vermont, completed wartime medical lab course in Boston, married a sailor, Beverly Owen (Buzz) Salsbery, and came to Oak Grove where she caught an 18 lb salmon her second day. She raised two daughters in Jennings Lodge, then completed her BS at PSU. She worked as a charge nurse at Portland General Hospital, then 30 years for doctors Cohen \u0026amp; Swett. Her husband died of ALS in 1980, and she became companions with Gary Hoselton in 1988 and they traveled extensively. She became involved in Daughters of the British Empire and Portland Highland Games Association, chairing the British Tea Tent for 13 years. She loved life, she loved her work, and she loved making things better. She is survived by her daughters Nancy E. Muiz of West Linn and Mary P. Salsbery-Stoller of Danbury, Connecticut, sister Patricia C. Leisman, grandchildren Alexandre O. Muiz, Mary Catherine Muiz, Matthew C.S. Stoller, and Daniel R. Stoller, and her companion Gary A. Hoselton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Tuesday, April 8th, at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, 4112 SW 6th Avenue Dr., Portland, followed by private burial and blessing at Mountain View Cemetery in Oregon City.
