Elayne Ann Rutledge, 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 20th, 2023. Elayne was born June 28, 1939 in Klamath Falls, Oregon, to Lillian and Joseph Mingo.
Elayne attended Sacred Heart Academy Catholic School in Klamath Falls 1-12th grade. She married Gary Rutledge on June 1, 1957. They lived in Klamath Falls, Medford, Oregon, Santa Clara, California, and Milwaukie, Oregon.
Her first job out of high school was at Polly Ann Bakery. Most of her employment was working as a meat wrapper. She and Gary had their own meat market in Klamath Falls for many years, then she worked at Thriftway and Safeway in the Milwaukie area.
After retirement Elayne took classes to be a Master Gardener. She was a wealth of knowledge to other plant enthusiasts. The rose garden in her front yard was beautiful. She was often saving seeds from plants and vegetables to grow in her garden shed or sunroom.
Elayne's other hobby was cooking. She was "famous" for her "refrigerator soup" which, of course, could not be exactly recreated.
Elayne's other talent was singing. She sang in the choir at New Hope Community Church for many years. She also sang for a radio commercial when she was young.
Elayne is survived by her husband, Gary Rutledge of Milwaukie, Oregon; son, Don Rutledge and wife, Vickie of Molalla, Oregon; daughters, Carol Boyd and husband, Tim of Vancouver, Washington, and Virginia Bambach and husband, Mark of Lebanon, Oregon; sisters, Marlene Nelson of Milwaukie, Oregon and Jolene Barker, of Kenmore, Washington; 9 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren, with another on the way. She was very proud of them and loved them all dearly.
A memorial service will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, June 23, 2023 at Milwaukie Lutheran Church 3810 SE Lake Rd Milwaukie, Oregon.
