Edwin Harold Turpin, born on June 13, 1943, in Lakeview, Oregon, passed away on May 15, 2024. He was a cherished member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and married, Judith Monson on August 17, 1966, in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Ed earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master's Degree from Brigham Young University, which led to a fulfilling career in art education. He taught in the Oregon City School District from 1971 until his retirement in 2001. Ed and Judy settled in Oregon City in 1971, where they raised their family and became integral parts of the community.
Ed was passionate about history, often participating in Civil War reenactments, mountain man rendezvous at the Clackamas County Fair, and Oregon Trail education programs. His artistic talents shone through in his painting, ceramics, and jewelry making. Ed also enjoyed the outdoors, particularly fishing and hunting in the scenic Oregon landscapes.
In 1994, Ed traveled to Japan as part of a sister-city exchange, a journey he held dear. He was a dedicated member of the Lions Club and Rose Farm, contributing significantly to his community.
Ed is survived by his loving wife, Judy; their children, Jenene (Craig), Jennifer (James), Jill, Jared (Mardi), and Jacob (Cami); ten grandchildren; and eagerly awaited the birth of his first great-grandchild in July 2024. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Harmon Harold Turpin and Lola Sitha Burgoyne; and two brothers, LeRoy Turpin and Terry Turpin.
Services to celebrate Ed's life will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints building located at 15344 S. Henrici Road, Oregon City, OR. He will be laid to rest at the Redland Pioneer Cemetery on South Redland Road, Oregon City, OR. Ed's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
