Edna Mae Crismon

August 18, 1923 — March 24, 2014

Edna passed away into the loving arms of God on March 24, 2014. She was the youngest of five children, born in Bismarck, ND on August 18, 1923.  In North Dakota they went to church in Sterling.  During the winter months they went by horse drawn sled.  She would walk with her sister, Florence, one and one half miles to school.  In 1934 the family moved from North Dakota to Oregon.  In 1935 Edna earned her first bible by memorizing and reciting Bible verses.  She graduated in 1941 from Lebanon High School.

Our family moved many times throughout Oregon: Guilds Lake, 115th, Grants Pass, Medford, Roseburg, Eugene, Milwaukie, Beaverton and retiring from the State of Oregon in Pendleton in 1983.  They traveled to Australia and New Zealand and bought a motor home and traveled to Canada, Arizona and did lots of camping and dirt bike riding with friends and family.  There were many road trips on dad's road bike with friends to places like John Day, Baker, Mary Hill Museum, Hermiston and Mount Saint Helens.  They loved having friends and family come to visit.

In July of 1996 Dad passed away and mom moved to Clackamas to be close to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She met wonderful friends in Clackamas and with them and her family traveled to Alaska, Australia, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Caribbean, Seattle, Reno, Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Texas, California, LaPine, Black Butte, Yuma, Mexico and LaQuinta.  In 2005 mom moved to Beaverton and from there to Courtyard Retirement Center and her final place at Raleigh Hills Assisted Living where she made many friends.  She loved playing cards, Wii bowling, bingo, chocolates and of course, her "Scotch" at Happy Hour.  She had a big heart and lots of love to share.  She will be greatly missed!!

Edna is survived by two sons, Jim Crismon and Ron Crismon; daughter, Florence Atkinson; grandchildren, Paula Stiefel, Ron Hoesly, Brian Crismon, Susie Wilson and Cameron Crismon; step-grandsons, Scott Atkinson and Gregg Atkinson and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl.

The family suggests contributions in her memory to Providence Cancer Research Center, 4805 NE Glisan, Portland, OR 97213 or phone 503-215-6220 or 503-216-6186.
