Douglas M. Richardson

December 8, 1935 — April 13, 2017

Rest in peace, Douglas Montgomery Richardson. 1935-2017. Doug ("Monty" to his folks and siblings) was a man whose life spanned an amazing variety of events and interests. From nuclear reactor operator to photographer, health physicist to carpenter, electronics expert to draftsman, music lover to highway builder, outdoorsman to industrial safety manager. He gave to the State of Oregon many years of service in the National Guard and in the management of radiological health and safety, civil defense, and hazardous materials handling. He gave to his son a great appreciation for engineering accomplishments, musical performance, home improvement, and self-development through the pursuit of curiosity. He gave to his wife complete commitment and a passion for books, art, and music. He is survived by his three siblings David, Gale & Lynette, his wife Diane, son Bob, and son-in-law Jason. He passed after a long battle with dementia and other chronic health problems, a strong fighter until the end. Family had been at his side throughout the day and his wife held his hand until the very end. Although we feel a void at this moment, his legacy and his memory are greater, and will continue.
